London, 10 May, 2016 – UK Trade and Investment’s Regeneration Investment Organisation (RIO) has officially announced its support for MIPIM UK, now in its 3rd year.
RIO is working with embassies and consulates in Australia, Canada, China (including Hong Kong), Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea, Qatar, UAE and the United States, to bring delegations representing pension funds, sovereign wealth funds and other institutional investors to MIPIM UK in October this year.
Gavin Winbanks, Head of Investor Relations, UKTI Regeneration Investment Organisation (RIO), commented: “RIO is supporting MIPIM UK as we believe it is one – if not the – most important events in the UK property calendar, showcasing the entire UK market and making it accessible to international investors.”
Simon Rhodes, Managing Director, Reed MIDEM UK, said: “The support of the RIO is an extremely important endorsement for MIPIM UK and will provide our clients with access to leading international investors, many of whom have not previously attended MIPIM UK and who have significant assets under management. The thought-provoking conference programme addressing the impacts of key market dynamics across all property asset classes will mean that MIPIM UK will be more relevant this year, especially as government policy is linked more significantly with UK property than has ever been the case.”
MIPIM UK will also showcase major government-backed projects including the HS2 station development, town centre initiatives and investment opportunities in enterprise zones and across the UK.
A new set of events and panel discussions with high profile government ministers and industry leaders underlines MIPIM UK’s credentials as a unique opportunity to conduct business, network and discuss the major issues facing real estate leaders. MIPIM UK will also develop RE-Invest UK into a new UK Investment Forum designed to bring together key international and local institutional investors to share insight and engage in forward-looking discussions.
The UK remains the leading destination for real estate investment in Europe and is second only to the United States globally. According to a report published in March 2016 by CBRE in partnership with UKTI, overseas investment in UK regions outside London is at its highest since 2007, with almost £3.5bn of real estate assets purchased in 2015 alone. This is more than double the amount invested by foreign capital in 2013 (just £1.4bn of stock).
Organised by Reed MIDEM, a subsidiary of Reed Exhibitions, the world’s leading investors are set to meet at the third MIPIM UK, the annual business, conference and networking forum for the whole of the UK property industry at Olympia, London from 19-21 October 2016.
